Leadership and Outreach
The past EPAC meeting was an opportunity to detail what AAEE can do for EA.
Lyn Brodie attended the AEESEAP meeting in Singapore. The end result being that in conjunction with UNESCO, AAEE will apply for funding to set up projects particularly in Brunei and PNG setting up Associations of Engineering Education and assisting with these countries attaining Washington Accord Status.
Finance
AAEE will continue to pursue alternative funding and sponsorship to support awards and any other educational initiatives that the committee sees as necessary.
Excellence and Education
A discussion took place with Peter Hoffmann, Associate Director – Accreditation, regarding the possibility of extending the accreditation workshops to other areas of interest/value.
The 2014 Winter School was held at the University of Queensland from the 14th to 18th July.
Ten participants attended the Winter School from across Australia who were either PhD students or academic staff. The instructors for the school were again Matt Eliot, Lesley Jolly and Llew Mann. It was once again a very good event, with participants actively engaged over the 5 days learning to conduct education research in engineering
Conferences
2013 Conference – The publication from the 2013 Conference is now online and available to the public.
2014 Conference – Will be held on the 10th December at the Te Papa Tongarewa Museum of New Zealand in Wellington.
Three keynote speakers are confirmed:-.
- Professor Roger Hadgraft – RMIT
- Professor Alison Halstead – Pro Vice-Chancellor for Strategic Academic Developments – Aston University, UK
- Tim Fowler CEO of NZ Tertiary Education Commission
EA Convention 2014 – AAEE will have members at the convention on an expert panel helping the colleges to define their graduate capabilities for the Colleges.
