Authors in all areas of engineering education are invited to submit abstracts for a conference paper, poster or workshop, with a particular emphasis on the conference theme Engineering education: between the human and the digital.
We are delighted to welcome the engineering education community to the 36th Australasian Association for Engineering Education Annual Conference hosted by the University of Queensland (UQ). The conference will be held at UQ’s St Lucia Campus in Brisbane (Meanjin) from the 7th to the 10th of December 2025.
The theme of the conference arises from the dichotomy that, as the world becomes more digital through technologies like generative AI, human centred skills become more important. In addition to the impact on the engineering profession, we see similar tensions in the inherently human and social processes of learning. This means that the exponential development of AI and related technologies raises many new questions for engineering educators and many questions that seem very familiar.
On this theme, the conference looks to showcase work, and facilitate conversations, about the nature of the profession and engineering education in the age of GenAI where students, industry, and educators are grappling with disruption at the same time. This ranges from changes in industry, outcomes, pedagogy, student experiences, and the increasing importance of human centred skills. As we navigate this, it is important that we use the expertise of the engineering education community to retain what works and use the opportunity to enhance our practice.
Whilst we welcome papers on this theme, we also welcome papers and workshops across the spectrum of engineering education and look forward to presenting a diverse program.
Authors in all areas of engineering education are invited to submit full papers or expressions for interest for workshops.
